Welcome

Live steam model on 7¼" gauge of the Württembergische T3 no 924

Welcome to this blog. It will inform you about the progress of designing and building live steam model locomotives. The blog contains the description of a model Würrtembergische T3 on 7¼" gauge (built between 2006 and 2017), the wagons for this loco (built between 2018 and 2022)  and a 5" gauge model of a Great Eastern Railway Y14 class loco (started in 2020)

On the left you'll find the index where you can browse through the different articles and on the right you'll find all the extra's. On the top tabs you'll find a brief description of my other locos.

Steaming at Le Petit Train à Vapeur de Forest (Bruxelles)

On 2nd October we went to the track of the model engineering society PTVF in Brussels. They have a magnificent ground-level track, with several intertwined loops. Your run is controlled by the people in the signal box and can be as long as 20 minutes of nonstop drive. There are some bridges, steep gradients, and a very fine signaling system, which keep you as a driver quite occupied during the run.

We took the Württembergische T3 with the new wagons along and Toin, a fellow member of Stoomgroep Zuid brought his GWR 14xx class along.

There is always a friendly and warm atmosphere at the PTVF and it is great to meet fellow steam enthusiasts. PTVF members have a fine collection of locomotives and Wolfgang from Hannover had his newly completed V80 diesel locomotive on the track.
To communicate a mixture of French, English, German and Dutch language is spoken. At the station bar, they have a great selection of great Belgian beers available, which is making conversation in different languages a lot easier 😀.

This was our first international steam meeting in a long time, due to the Corona circumstances. This "Grande Fête de la Vapeur,  Week End de Fermeture"   (last weekend of their steam season) was therefore still organized in a limited setting.
