At the end of June Dampfbahnclub Holstein at Schackendorf (Germany, north of Hamburg) have their annual Insider Treffen. There were a lot of German, Swiss, Austrian, Belgian, British, and Dutch model engineers invited to this fantastic event. Playing with trains for a few days.
They have a beautiful track layout, where you as a train driver, can operate most of the points, to select your own route. A scale roundhouse, signalbox, the fully signaled layout, a few bridges, a tunnel and some steep gradients make this an excellent track for the experienced driver.
But apart from the track, the hospitality is also great; Daniel is an expert cook, who makes lovely evening meals and lunches, there are fresh bread rolls every morning and you can put up your tent at the track.
The friendly atmosphere, the great company and the excellent weather made it an event not to be missed. We enjoyed it very much.
We had the 7¼" T3 with wagons (The Märklin start-set) and the 5" GWR 1414 class 0-4-2, complete with a goods train, with us.
The photos give an impression of the event.
